Alright, It works...
Hey, you should drop me a line some time, I also Record various crap, well its around a 20:1 suck to non suck ratio...
anyway, I like exchanging notes with others toying with recording... I figure you do since you just said "beta 57". firstname.lastname@example.org dude.
I seriously don't understand how you can get a decent drum sound while managing to fuck right up with the distortion on the guitar... Compared to capturing drums, especially in reasonable stereo with no overloading mics, which you did wonderfully (might have heard the snare clip, not sure though), Guitar distortion is nothing. Use one of those 57s you got on the drums and put it in front of any cheepo guitar amp... either that or run a speaker sim if your into digital ;) But yeah, remember to keep volumes low and boost them later with a limiter... But I'm sure you already know that
Heh, I'm addicted to recording... I do crap for my friends all the time... check out my submission.
Oh Jesus God!
This is great...
Yeah, it's a funny number... my first song evah!
up your quality and youve got something.
ok... Get your hands on a copy of Acid Pro by any means you can. Its an easy to use multitracking program with some decent direct X plugins.
Now... dont plug your distortion pedal right into your computer... too many highs and high mids. Go get a Good DI processor for your guitar from your local music shop. it isnt as good as a couple of good mics and a nice mixer and an hour of positioning to get rid of phase cancelation... but its easy. even without a DI you can get a better sound that that though. just takes some micky mousing.
Then, to add depth... record the rythm guitar twice, pan each of the tracks right and left, automatically your music sounds like its all around you. bass right and front. and put some stereo reverb on the drums.
since i feel like helping... email@example.com drop me a line if you want to know how to record. Im gonna whip something up to put on here...
